(Connoisseur-Caliber) (“Fall/Winter New Arrivals Event“)In its deceptively simple design, this 150-year-old Bakshaish mat carries the DNA of this most esteemed artistic tradition that predominantly produced room size carpets. An irregular medallion adrift on an open, wondrously striated red field is quintessentially Bakshaish as are the abrashed cerulean blue corners. A wide ivory border reveals the practiced use of scale encouraged in this folk art aesthetic as large deconstructed blossoms intertwine with playfully illustrated budding vines. An endearing dog-like form scattered in the medallion and corners morphs in places to a dog bone motif for a deft touch of humor. This almost square, rare little rug is a smashing success visually, its confident expression of the Bakshaish tradition in full form. Learn About This Rug Type
