This nearly one-and-one-half-centuries-old Tabriz room size rug was woven in the workshops of the master carpet designer, Hadji Jallili. In the 19th century, his workshop created an entirely original auburn based palette of color and a signature design style that expressed a quiet symmetry and perfection. Here the lobed medallion and spandrels exhibit astounding dexterity and create a fascinating, infinitely immersive universe of swirling botanical imagery. A soft and contained palette of spice, eggshell, apricot, ochre palette is shown in subtle and entrancing interplay. This style creates unfathomably elegant decors and this exceptionally finely woven example offers superb condition for its age.
