(High-Decorative) An extraordinarily clear, inventive composition is the hallmark of this mesmerizing turn-of-the-20th-century Malayer Camelhair piece. Its use of juxtaposed light and dark color is stunningly effective, with crimson red and cream opposites taking a major expressive role in the design. Innovative abrash occurs within the reserve, using selectively hued diagonal filigree. The result is a very original feature that recalls a sense of fluidity and depth, evoking a mist-shrouded landscape scene. The floating garlands and “x” shaped crosses are unlike anything we have seen before in this design, joining the outlines to medallion and reserve to create a sense of delicacy, novelty and surprise. The unadorned crimson main border frame is arresting and profoundly memorable, amplifying the energy of this treasure to very seldom-encountered heights. Learn About This Rug Type
