(Connoisseur-Caliber) This is a brilliantly executed, classic Caucasian Surahani Baku with extraordinary detail and tremendous variety in its tribal motifs. Like other prized Baku pieces, it has the much brighter royal to cobalt blue ground associated with this wealthy port city’s weaving tradition. A sumptuous, hard to capture ruby red dye is responsible for the major complimentary tone. A broad range of scale adds great interest to the composition with a “keyhole” field pattern ordering the presentation of motifs including tree forms suggesting an axis along with three prominent octagons. Stars of Wisdom, tiny animals, diamonds, and myriad, multi-colored rosettes invest this engaging tribal rug with rhythmical energy. Learn About This Rug Type
