BAKHTIARI GARDEN OF PARADISE, Central Persian
9' 2" x 12' 11" Circa 1925 Price: $14,000
(High-Decorative)
This absolutely delightful, unique Persian Bakhtiari is a stellar example of what makes the most creative of these carpets stand out amongst other 20th-century tribal weaving traditions. This tribe held on longer to its natural dyeing and Its exuberant designs. A carnelian reserve bursts with iconography depicting cypress and deciduous tree forms interspersed between elaborate vases holding realistic roses. The ivory main border is painstakingly drawn with repeating heraldic shield designs framed by dragons and individually articulated 'Tree of Life' motifs. This carpet's ultra-durable construction and dense pile make it the practical solution as well as the aesthetic one.
