(High-Collectible) ("New Arrivals Gallery") This 160-year old stunning representative of Bijar at its finest is an enrapturing offering—with its expansive and rare camelhair center and signature combination of stateliness and village-inspired artistry. A stepped, lower-filled medallion brings immediate surprise, expanding horizontally into indented niches of an interior aquamarine border that links to the corner pieces, creating a restful sense of an island floating on water. The side decoration of this border with its blossom-filled compartments is unique to the style, adding much charm, while the spandrels are more evocative of pale pink rose blossoms and undulating, dragon-like vinery. The daffodil and rosette main bit order is an Azerbaijan creation often seen in early Bakshaish. Here it is exquisitely chiseled; the entire border suite, including the outer crenellated edging, invests this piece with an inimitable dignity and formality. Learn About This Rug Type
