(High-Decorative) This fascinating antique rug eschews the traditional cruciform field motifs of the much-loved Caucasian Seichur Kuba sub-style, and instead offers a novel allover field design of delicate flowers in a fine lattice. This textural ground is made even more enticing by the very striking three border frame. In a charming variation, the main border here is of a pinwheel blossom and vine motif typically relegated to the minor borders. The secondary ‘Ocean Wave’ design so characteristic of Seichurs are especially pronounced, crowned with tiny ‘wheels of life’, and even contain abstract flowerheads that are reminiscent of the fire symbology that is central to the Zoroastrian religion.
