BAKSHAISH RUNNER, Northwest Persian
3' 5" x 14' 8"
Late 19th Century
The spaciously drawn Herati pattern of this connoisseur collectible Bakshaish runner fully displays the beautifully abrashed (artistic color striation) medium indigo ground in the field of this piece. Paired with corner spandrels filled with interesting, amorphous geometric shapes, including a weavers comb, their backgrounds are a reflection of the lotus blossoms found in the field. A burgundy-brown main border frames this charmingly angular piece with its unusual color. The spacious arrangement of its interior, as well as that of the serrated oak leaf motifs, allow this uncommon hue to shine through. Learn About This Rug Type
