A noticeably fine weave for a village rug gives this area sized Afshan Kuba rug a distinctly clear rendering of its individual design elements. Of particular note are the split palmettes at each interior border of the field. The serrated edges of their zoomorphic figures bear an articulated clarity that punctuates the diffused motifs. Set against a rich indigo background, the subtle light blue and green dyes offer a salient contrast to its immersive depth, adorned with a wide variety of smaller elements. While this piece is largely compromised of a structured design, many of the aforementioned smaller elements are wondrously improvised and add a spontaneous feel to this area rug.
