A complex pattern of tree forms blanket this 1-½-centuries-old oversize carpet, taking advantage of its signature elongation to express a fecund portrait of nature’s unquenchable direction of growth. The Halvai nomenclature refers to the finest weave from this style which is particularly impressive because Bijars, known as the Iron Rug of Persia, also have an indestructible handle, so tightly is each row of knots pounded into place. A classic, detailed suite of floral meander borders enclose an abrashed (intentionally color-shaded) khaki field enlivened by rich touches of salmon, brick red, saffron, deep teal, and leaf green. This nearly 150-year-old, one-of-a-kind Persian Town carpet's unusually good condition further augments its great appeal.
