Many clients with contemporary or casual decors opt for highly expressive Persian geometric room size rugs such as this singular Serapi Heriz carpet with its asymmetrically placed overall motifs and intentionally striated colors. Bearing an uncanny resemblance to the geometric folk art of esteemed Bakshaish carpets, it offers elemental, highly abstracted palmettes, flowerhead and leaves appear in profusion. Evocative, skillful striation known as abrash, especially in the main border, adds striking depth to the design. Throughout, a minimalist approach to the palette motifs is extremely inspired. Note the rare use of natural camelhair to fill some of these overscale blossoms.
