FERAHAN SAROUK, West Central Persian
4' 3" x 6' 7"
Late 19th Century
(High-Collectible) (“Spring 2019 New Acquisition“) Arising from a small group of Ferahan Sarouk rugs that explored the creation of visual impact much in the same way as modern painters did, this carpet is a masterwork. Nothing emanates color like lanolin rich wool, and here exceptionally sensitive dyeing is on display in the astonishingly saturated tones of the medallion and spandrels, and elsewhere. Its exceptionally fine knotting and close, even cutting of its pile and resulting clarity of line greatly contribute to its artistic impact. Held in private collections for over 100 years, this piece is in exceptional condition. Learn About This Rug Type
