(High-Decorative) (“New Acquisition Sampling") A triumph of 19th century folk art virtuosity, this example from the “Blossom” Shirvan substyle offers a very unique, ingenious approach to this usually more regimented design. Here the white almond blossoms star while the traditional stepped diamond motif is handled with clever alternation. These naïve ivory florets and serrated, vivid "rosettes" stand out with engaging potency upon an inviting denim blue ground. The precision is redoubled in the multitudinous border suite, creating a faceted frame-within-a-frame effect around the small field. Learn About This Rug Type
