Singular, elegant and supremely crafted, this antique Tabriz is a standout for its striking ivory field and border presentation. Its very rare and coveted small room size dimensions mean it can be used in a wide variety of placements to stunning effect. Jade toned cypress trees ground the exuberance of the effusive Garden of Paradise portrayal that shimmers with myriad flower species. Two pairs of birds seem to have this sheltered haven to themselves. Adeptly rendered rare tonalities of pomegranate, Aegean blue, saffron-based copper, peony pink, guava, and a spectrum of rich greens animate the extraordinarily synergistic design. A primary border with exquisitely articulated palmettes adds to the beauty. This singular, nearly 150-year-old carpet came to us from a long-held private collection and is superb, heavier pile condition.
