(High-Collectible)
("New Arrivals Gallery") Among the seldom-encountered, prized, 19th century Tehran rugs, this "Garden of Paradise" is extraordinary: a pictorial canvas that invites the viewer to take a walk through an enchanting country. At the bottom rests a pond with ducks, fish, and even a pair of swans, leading to a meadow with sheep and deer. Beyond the meadow, houses sit on the edge of the woods, home to an incredible assortment of birds. Stately elk and countless bunnies populate the arboreal border. An elaborately obscured central axis grounded at the bottom of the field by a vase exerts a brilliantly commanding influence on the harmony and symmetry of the scene. The singular, exquisite color palette includes generous amounts of saffron, offset by celadons and azure, and punctuated with rose tonalities. This small room-size carpet is a major piece, appropriate for special floor placement or as wall art.
