This quite finely woven formal room-size carpet displays both exceptional quality of materials and craftsmanship and inspired artistic vision. Two trees emerge from the top and the bottom of the field that each split to form two branches within which floats a beautiful, lobed central medallion and its crowned pendants. This majestic image is further animated by the presence of four nests with Bird of Paradise fledglings and their attentive mothers protected by four dragons. Supporting this scene are delicate blooming tendrils filled with a great diversity of small flowers and stepped spandrels containing split palmettes that reflect the posture of the trees. Framed by a classic suite of seven borders and enlivened by a gracious palette of soft copper, aqua, azure, buttercup, and golden topaz, the carpet succeeds in emanating a peaceful ambiance amid an abundance of activity. Superb condition enhances its great attraction.
