(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery") This virtuoso, 140-year-old Shirvan short runner shimmers with dynamic, graphic energy that is notable even for this highly respected 19th century tribal subgroup. The rug's adventurous, highly accomplished weaver has eschewed predictable motifs in favor of a striking allover pattern of individual diamonds, perfectly chosen for the narrow reserve’s elongated Kelege dimensions. Her use of an exceedingly fine weave and closely shorn pile gives each motif a sense of being chiseled from marble. Stepped edge outlines and rhythmic continual abrash of the intense ruby to crimson field create significant movement, as if these devices were vibrating to an unseen wavelength. The central main band of serrated, arrow like motifs is also an impressively original and impactful artistic choice. Its wonderful condition is yet another appeal. Learn About This Rug Type
