This elegant, quite finely knotted Ferahan Sarouk small rug offers all the admired attributes of this renowned style: fine weaving, rich and varied, naturally dyed colors, and a stately yet whimsical design. Its eight-petalled, beautifully faceted centerpiece provides the entry point for enjoying the dense, widely diversified floral ornamentation throughout the field and border. The dramatic contrasts of color and etched outlining are beloved signature features of Ferahans. Echoing the ivory of the medallion, the similarly light border is decorated with Ferahan’s quintessentially exquisite frame of alternating rosette and cloverleaf shapes. The condition of this 110-year-old rug is superb for its age.
