The rug's subtly abrashed (intentionally color shaded) carnelian red field, delicately patterned corner spandrels, and borders combine with its extremely fine weave and a glass-like surface to create a sense of great dimensionality. The dark undyed camelhair that is traditionally reserved for the field in Bakshaishs of this style is effectively employed as the rug's outermost border.
