Late 19th Century
(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery")This is no oridinary tribal runner. Rather it is an early, entirely folkloric art piece with a whimsical, irregularly spaced pattern of seven ascending diamond medallions that appear to hover above the undyed camelhair field.15 pairs of striped horses, clearly the beloved companions of this semi-nomadic weaver, each have their own posture and character. This unpretentious, yet entirely penetrating composition is framed by three narrow borders, each featuring a series of uniquely rendered blossoms. It was clearly woven by someone who lived close to nature, and understood the individual character of everything in creation. Remarkably, it remains in exceedingly good floor condition with medium pile overall. Learn About This Rug Type
