("New Arrivals Gallery") Quite unlike any other Serab example we have encountered, this visually striking rug is a uniquely riveting example. Basking in the glow of prized blonde camelhair is a faceted shamsa medallion with lithe anchor pendants extending above and below - an exquisite design inspired by the frontispieces of centuries-old illuminated manuscripts originating in Shiraz. The ends of each striped pendant are crowned by flamelike floral motifs that glow like torches to light one’s path. A wonderfully exotic palette greets the eye with custom tones of sanguine garnet, melon, cornflower blue, burgundy, and serene shades of teal. In parallel to the central midnight blue border featuring a sequence of luminous rosettes are a pair of double bands that hold dancing carnations adding a bustling energy to this piece in counterpoint to the spacious expanse in the field. An art rug such as this bestows a unique ambiance wherever it is placed. Its superb condition opens the door to a world of applications around the home.
