(Connoisseur-Caliber) (“Fall/Winter New Arrivals Event“)Offering one of the most illustrious Caucasian rug designs, this Eagle presents an alternate, and highly-sought-after, treatment of this sub-style. Here a single radiating sunburst medallion at the center is enclosed by pairs of dragon-like motifs with interior and exterior “scales” arching at the top and bottom of the field evoking a particularly ancient symbology. Warm terracotta to crimson hues extends into the main border, ideally emphasizing the antique ivory wool of the rug’s key features. This style of Eagle is quite rare and is faithfully captured here in this 120-year-old example from the higher slopes of the Caucasus range. It remains in superb condition with very good pile overall. Learn About This Rug Type
