(Decorative) Kurdish weavers were renowned for a startlingly wide range of patterns. This very unique Kurdish rug borrows the pattern language of the Baluche tribal weavers who favored camelhair grounds and the oak leaf and medallion design seen here. The patterns are woven with improvisational skill. The camel ground is beautifully accented with shades of pink, coral, azure blue, aqua, terra cotta red, and burgundy. The pattern is a little more crisp and the colors a little richer than this image. Its very good heavy full pile condition makes it all the more appealing.
