This highly unusually-toned collectible rug is an anomaly within the richly colorful Caucasian panoply, successfully employing extremely difficult-to-dye tonalities. Using an inspired, very subtle “woven” structure of connected by small ivory almond blossoms, this tribal rug successfully experiments with niched motifs of natural camel, taupe, coffee, dark walnut for emphasis, pale lavender and azure, golden brown, honeysuckle, and even touches of soft rose pink. While prescient with its “modern” color palette, the tribal symbols ground this piece in its ancient symbolic roots with Stars of Wisdom, serrated diamonds, turtles, and boteh. Of a squarish shape, this 160-year-old rug shimmers with patina and will contribute an understated but profound effect wherever it is placed.
