(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery")Rugs from the Bakhtiari tribe at 130-140 years old are extremely rare finds and we are very excited to have acquired this piece, not just because of its age but also its consummate rendition of a design that was not part of this style’s tradition. Glimmering from the fine tribal wool that illuminates its beautiful palette, rug expertly pictures a knotted tree with wildlife at its base and songbirds in its boughs. A study in skillful color striation in both the field’s rose tones and the border’s marine blues create a dramatic and sumptuous feast for the eyes. Startlingly good condition and offering a shape approaching square, this "Bibibaff" (Grandmother's weave for its super-fine knotting) piece is in every way a brilliant work of art.
