("New Arrivals Gallery")This beautifully designed, superbly crafted 170-year-old Ferahan Sarouk evokes a quiet grandeur that emanates from the double layered teardrop medallion across the softly undulating salmon field to ivory spandrels echoing the graceful lines at the center. Two different overscale blossoms alternate compactly in the main border, giving this piece an ornate frame while featuring the gracious palette of hues from cinnabar and teak to citrine, teal, and pippin, as well as periwinkle and touches of mandarin. The movement of the organically drawn green arabesques in the central medallion are faintly mirrored in the field's narrow vinery and more visibly in corner pieces, together effecting a dexterously wrought graceful, dancelike ambiance. This mid-19th-century carpet is int quite good condition with even moderate pile.
