(High-Decorative) ("New Arrivals Gallery") In this finely woven tribal rug, a unique rendition of the prized, seldom-seen Alpan Kuba style offers exceptionally crisp rendering of the striking geometric designs. Vertically aligned urn-like forms and hunter green quatrefoils are the foundation of a profusion of orderly botanical abstractions reminiscent of modern fine art masterworks. Luminous yet time-softened earth and jewel tones relay the aesthetic sensitivity of tonal juxtaposition by its weaver working on a portable, horizontal loom in a remote mountain village. Along with the fascinating symphonic interplay of rose quartz and ivory vinery, crimson and carnelian reds gambol with bright gold, rare deep teals and rich walnut create a great depth of field. Exhibiting a cohesion of color and pattern that makes for great visual delight, this highly original rug has always been extremely well cared for, coming to us in wonderful condition at 130-140 years of age.
