(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery") Displaying an unusual amount of inventiveness and artistic vision, this extraordinarily appealing 160-year-old Serapi reflects this style’s earlier, more nuanced, aesthetic. A soft persimmon medallion fringed in contrapuntal azure orchestrates a unique mélange of abstracted blossoms and palmettes interconnected by angular vinery. Harmonizing the entire composition, its time-softened, light-toned color palette rests on the connection of colorways: medallion and border, rose quartz spandrels and field palmettes, the white gold ground, and center of the medallion. A deftly applied abrash color striation treatment of celadon at top and bottom adds immeasurably to this fascinating piece’s overall mystique. Wonderfully preserved for its great age, a Serapi such as this has become exceedingly difficult to find. Learn About This Rug Type
