(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery") This consummately crafted antique Kermanshah (woven in West Persia by renowned Laver Kirman weavers) in the virtually never-found nearly 5-1/2 by 9 size offers a resplendent jewel-toned palette, a splendiferous field, and elegantly fluid series of botanically inspired borders. Akin to the graphic style of French posters, a rich tapestry of comingling floral elements covers the reserve with differing shades of the sapphire background peeking through. This rug features one of the most immaculate shades of deep ruby which is masterfully juxtaposed with skillfully abrashed hues of Egyptian, cerulean and lapis blue, bronze, tangerine, and cranberry throughout. This enrapturing small room-sized piece expresses an impressive visual power and unsurpassed elegance, while remarkably remaining in mostly heavier pile condition at nearly 150 years of age.
