Upon the Prussian to cobalt blue field, ten striking Lesghi Stars, the signature design of this style, are drawn with incredible clarity, each individually filled with inspired sprinklings of motifs. Sharing the space is a dazzling multiplicity of tiny tribal paired rosettes, stylized flowers, and abstracted, often interrupted polygonal forms that provide colorful activity and unaffected spontaneity. Completing this extraordinary, quite early example, the traditional Kufic main border is presented in engaging hues, greatly enhanced by an extremely uncommon soft jade green tone that morphs into a rich cerulean.
