This sublime early rug's exceptional composition and exotic Monet-esque color palette reveals the artistic ability of the revered Kermanshah weavers to achieve an awe-inspiring precision and finesse while retaining the vibrance of an impressionistic garden in full bloom. This breathtaking impact is the result of extremely subtle variances in drawing, combined with finely honed abrash (intentional color shifts.) Its wide, deeply emotive palette contains sublime hues of cabernet, persimmon, rare leaf green, and scintillating shades of blue from periwinkle to sapphire. Its harmoniously powerful medallion encloses an assemblage of aqueous palmettes in various angles and elaborates into two wonderful fleur-de-lis pendants. The supple, elegant handle of this standout from the Second Golden Age of Persian rug weaving is a precious trait inherited from earlier eras. At over 150 years old, it remains in extraordinarily good heavier pile.
