Unique in every regard, this consummate carpet is a treasure. At virtually 5-1/2 x 8, it offers among the rarest of dimensions that are so versatile in home design but almost never found. It also presents a particularly luminous, original, gold-infused color palette. Both deeply inventive and entirely gracious, its allover field pattern and sumptuous framing made up of seven crisply drawn borders evoke a stately splendor and sublime atmospheric harmony. Two columns of four pairs of individually rendered Prussian blue cartouches contain thriving flowered plants, while, although not immediately apparent, the slightest vertical asymmetry in the field creates an elusive sense of movement. That this elegant carpet is also in extremely good pile condition elevates it to a category of carpet that is very rarely encountered, combining tremendous artistic prowess with practical, decorative potential.
