("New Arrivals Gallery") This exuberant, over 150-year-old rug somehow survived rugged nomadic life to offer fantastic even, medium pile, and complete fringe ends is a marvelous example of the tribal aesthetic and traditional symbolism from Southern Persia. The energetic composition fills every available space capturing the Qashqai sense of life’s dynamic abundance. A profusion of stylized birds or “murghi” blanket the field, evoking hens tirelessly pecking the ground to dig up food for their chicks, a long-revered impression of support and nurturance. Every elemental fowl, angular fire-ruby hued quatrefoil blossom, and the ancient solar glyph is executed with a breathtaking rainbow of striking, naturally dyed jewel tones, including sparingly used jungle greens and vivid peach. Three borders with blossoming vinery and two flanking guard stripes using the mountain symbol aptly capture their winter and summer pastoral landscapes.
