(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery") What we may use to enliven a short passageway, this mid-19th century weaver obviously saw as the opportunity to create a masterful artistic expression. This extraordinarily early Northwest Azerbaijani village rug offers a striking quintuplet of medallions, illuminating your path like step-stones. A bold color shift from the deepest midnight to bright lapis combined with myriad subtle striations, brings movement and depth to the reserve and amplifies the interplay with the undulating contours around each shield-like form. This rich base tone effectively highlights the exotic mid-19th century palette of golds, bronze, brick reds and sea greens of the starflowers, sun signs and symbolic abstractions bestrewn throughout. Surrounding this eye-catching assemblage is a graphic mahogany border adorned with a repeated tile-like pattern of flower heads outlined in antique ivory. Learn About This Rug Type
