It offers not only the traditional arboreal combination of cypress and willow trees, but is augmented by expertly drawn conifer shrubs in vivid scarlet and shades of sapphire, blossoming bouquets, crystalline deciduous trees, and rose quartz palmettes. Its wide gemstone palette is expressive and especially striking on the brilliant choice of a tan field and wheat infused tonalities softly striating throughout. Evoking an idyllic earth that knows no winter, this alluring, very well-preserved room-size carpet boasts the winning, rare combination of fine craftsmanship and inspired folk art ambiance, fancifully buttressed by a rhythmic willow tree border. Happily, this nearly 140-year-old piece comes to us in wonderful condition.
