("New Arrivals Gallery") Irresistible for its unabashedly improvised artistic creativity, this enchanting example of the best of the innovative pastoral Shahsavan tribal weaving is a celebrative ode to the sacred and mundane. Two stunning golden 'Trees of Life’ are laden with flower and fruit guarded by animistic birds crowning the top of each, with their acolytes flanking the potted trunks at the bottom. A spontaneous profusion of graphic sprouting boteh seeds and a fecund array of blossoming sprigs, enigmatic dual petal forms (that almost appear as roosters in profile) with the most elemental abstract blossoms sprinkled throughout, are the story of life writ large into this exuberant work. The rich, saturated carnelian tones, dreamy sapphire blues, and warm fawn hues; older are still potent, softened to their 19th-century tonalities prized by the connoisseur. This ecstatic, genuine outsider art piece astonishingly has heavier pile.
