Crafted in the mountainous area of Northeast Persia by a large nomadic pastoralist group, bringing together diverse weaving traditions from Turkish, Persian, and Armenian peoples, this piece offers the winsome Mina Khani pattern of daisies and almond flowers on a loosely latticed vinery, used across genres and favored by many rug enthusiasts. The deep, rich indigo of the elemental field is punctuated by the magnificently evocative color palette of vibrant warm reds, brilliant azures, burnished gold, and rugged earthy browns. Exciting to behold, the colors and motifs of this weaving are enhanced by the wonderful, gentle patina earned over the decades and the superb quality of its wool. Curling tendrils and tiny improvised sparkling ‘gems’ glitter throughout the interstitial spaces and further augment this rug's festive atmosphere.
