("New Arrivals Gallery") Emanating a contemporary allure, impressionistic artistry and a virtuoso color drama are fully actualized in this entrancing Ivory field carpet. Its fascinating, loosely interlocking design and rhythmical use of color captures an artistic aliveness that is the key attribute of a top-tier 19th-century representative of the ever-popular Sultanabad style. Three novel cruciform medallions energize the bustling field with a golden glow. A great sense of expansive movement and animation is present as the design proceeds off frame, conceptually to the pre-modern weavers, into infinite space. The shimmering primary border began as cobalt at the bottom, deftly shifting to shades of powder blue, then back to cobalt again near the top, proving their purposeful artistic intention. In another fantastic flourish of whimsy, the skillful weavers decided to turn the curvilinear vinery in the horizontal bands to rectilinear versions in the vertical.
