(Connoisseur-Caliber)
("New Arrivals Gallery") Superlatively crafted, this standout Shirvan long rug is the creation of a very dexterous, sensitive weaver, who ingeniously integrated the style’s Karaghasli and Khila Baku patterns with striking command of all the elements. The central axis of smooth-edged Khila multiple medallions, instead of Karagashli's usual radiating, stepped motifs, ends with a derivative from Karagashli fanlike pendants. Said to have ancient Egyptian roots as a flabellum sunshade, these beloved finials appear here like overscale blossoms. An exquisitely saturated, midnight ground accentuates the pinwheels, 8-pointed stars, animals, and small to tiny motifs rendered with a palpable animation. Assisted by potent, deeply harmonious colorways, especially the astonishing golden tone in the main border, this extremely well-preserved runner achieves an overall splendor that equals the best of both traditions.
