Created in the city of Kashan during the era of the famed workshop of Hassan Mohtasham, this extraordinarily finely woven floral rug offers an inventive departure from the classical medallion pattern and impactful use of color. Here detailed chisel-edged flowers and naturalistic floral sprays of daisies, peonies, carnations, and wild rose lushly surround the exuberant cruciform medallion. Resplendent jewel-tone hues amplify the already significant visual impact, with regal ruby, honey, Egyptian blue, and pomegranate on an inky blue ground. A superb grade of lamb's wool illumines the entire palette, and unfathomably, this luxuriant art-level rug is in excellent, virtually full-pile condition.
