Although the repeating ‘Herati’ pattern is well known and often seen in other styles, in Serapi carpets, it is more rarely found. Strikingly luminescent, its botanical visage takes on a resplendently articulated architectural quality glowingly outlined with meticulous care. On closer inspection, each botanic element has the charming undercurrent of continual spontaneity. Golden oar-like pendants jut from the unusual lotus-centered lava-hued jewel medallion, sweeping across the glittering foliage bedecked midnight reserve. In a surprising range of supportive hues, jade, celeste blue, and bright coral collaborate with cornsilk, ivory, and celadon to create a bedazzling effect.
