("New Arrivals Gallery") Maximizing its immersive exploration of how to create a staggeringly beautiful centerpiece, the Ferahan tradition introduced, in the middle of the 19th century, the completely entrancing, multi-medallion patterning seen in this carpet. Set upon a rich carnelian field of rapturous depth, a two-layered medallion presentation of fascinating, splendidly detailed larger designs and a supporting quatrefoil arrangement sing with a radiant glow, featuring splashes of sky blue, rose gold, and pistachio hues. Between each kaleidoscopic locus sparkles a lively, effusive field of wreaths and florets on filament vinery. Spontaneity on the most minute levels abounds, offering a delicate aliveness and reprieve from the boredom of perfection. Framed by a strikingly silhouetted meandering garland border that powerfully balances the splendor of the field, this exquisite carpet offers the full virtuosity of Ferahan weaving.
