("One of “60 Best-of-Their-Type Rugs Sold in 2022") Of all the tribes in the Qashqai Confederacy, the Kashkulis emerged as the group most inspired and prolific in weaving rugs with floral themes. Their famous, finely knotted Millefleur design is very rare to find and of great interest to collectors. Two magnificent reticulated conifers sitting atop columns decorated with stratified tile patterns flanking a rose-red vase. From it, a kaleidoscopic botanical display emerges that fills the shimmering traditional yellow field (the product of a small fortune of precious saffron dye). Horizontal branches burst with a splendiferously diverse super bloom of flowers, buds, and palmettes articulated in a broad palette of colors, never employed to such a degree in other Qashqai weavings. Unfathomably, this peerless 19th-century Persian tribal rug is in flawless full-pile condition, its sumptuous wool amplifies the irrepressible symphony of pattern and chorus of color.
