This surprisingly individual early Ferahan Sarouk offers a resplendent midnight indigo centerpiece with both vertical and horizontal “anchor pendants” enclosing inner crocus flowers, arranged in a gilded X form, energizing the surrounding finely etched floral motifs. The spacious golden beige field is graced with skillfully rendered feather-like leaves and two pairs of distinctive crested birds perched beside finely-etched miniature vases holding bouquets. Throughout, the fine artistic craftsmanship of the entire composition invites immersion into the world created in the field as each flower and vine is clearly expressed, given its own character. Its superbly executed main border has a particularly vivid and lifelike depiction of individualized blossoming vinery that almost appear to be moving in a gentle breeze. A light patina glistens the already luminous pile that remains in highly serviceable condition.
