From the fabled looms of the Bakhtiari people of Persia comes an extraordinary small room-size piece that takes on a more floral Town style pattern. Likely produced in a larger settlement in the Central Persian Chahar Mahal valley, this singular, compelling carpet features characteristics reminiscent of early Isfahan weavings. Upon a rarely seen rosy sand ground, gorgeous almost three-dimensional views of peony bouquets grow and bend from long sweeping stalks of glittering royal blue, some with devices shaped as gripping human hands. A stunning centerpiece features stylized miniature vases containing floral sprays in rich rose tones, surrounded by irises and fan palmettes. A similar scene in miniature dances its way around the ruby-hued main border. This sparklingly luminous representative of Bakhtiari craftsmanship is incredibly long lasting with heavy pile and an extremely durable foundation.
