In this graphically impactful and magically harmonious Lesghi long rug is a work of abstract art cloaked in folkloric charm. Seven Lesghi patented starburst medallions visually anchor the casual symmetry expressed in this piece. Every ancient motif in the fascinating field communicates an elemental simplicity that is literally captivating. Such a great degree of pixelation is combined with a layout of charming ascending figures and descending forms resembing a riveting arcade game. Its rich colors demonstrate the mastery of natural dyestuffs attained by those living in the mountainous Caucasus region. The vertical treatment of the main border is extremely unique, with the flowering extensions from each rosette forming what appear as ethnographic masks. In heavier-pile condition, this original tribal rug would enliven a tremendous range of decors.
