This rare-to-see 170-year-old Mudjur was created in central Anatolia, a region most renowned for producing vibrantly colored prayer rugs. A resonant expanse of carefully abrashed vermilion fills the reserve hosting an assortment of whimsical, fun-filled forms. Spontaneous mirror image talismans look like ecstatic stick figures. Casually expressed yet beautifully drawn cruciform rosettes appear in motion, restricted by the border and compressed by inertia. Royal azure, bright buttercup Aegean green, aubergine, and precious Tyrian purple intensify the composition, endowing each element with chromatic splendor to create an enrapturing visual impact. Its soft shining wool amplifies the glowing color palette. With a nod to Mondrian, the ivory guard stripes were woven by a true artist long before the western modern art movement. Astonishingly, this very personal treasure comes to us with luxuriant heavy pile.
