("New Arrivals Gallery") Here is another folkloric collector's masterpiece from the legendary Bakshaish weavers in a coveted mat size, crafted with glistening golden camelhair fleece. The unadorned reserve showcases an intrepid tonal shift of camel hues, adding a greater sense of depth and intrigue. This expanse is defined by sharply drawn step and dentil edge motifs that lead to a luculent royal azure for which the master dyers of Bakshaish are famously known. Casually drawn cinnabar latticework in the corner spandrels elicit the feeling of looking out the window at a starry evening sky. A playful border sequence has a tumbling rosette and arrow pattern in the walnut-hued main band, paralleled by ultra stylized dragon symbols populating the minor stripes. Camel margins tie together the composition as an extension of the sparse center. This compact rug is a rarely found 170-year-old jewel that remains in wonderful condition awaiting its lucky new owner.
