("New Arrivals Gallery") The small room size dimensions of this invigorating piece are incredibly seldom found among antique Caucasian rugs. Its extra-fine weave indicates it may have been woven on commission for an important family. Heraldic Seichur “X” designs, initially stemming from precursors in ancient Caucasian and Turkish weaving traditions, create a mesmerizing structure where everything works together like an intricate puzzle. Although symmetrical in appearance, not one of its sunburst design elements is quite like the other, with subtle variations revealing the charm of a hand-woven object. Forming “neighborhoods” in the ivory zones, wonderfully stylized flowers take on the appearance of tiny architectural structures. Buoyant hues add mellow contrasts to the rhythmic pattern and make for an overall soothing experience in this carpet that comes to us in heavy-pile condition.
