("New Arrivals Gallery") Fluidly presented in an equanimous display, this piece is an original and quintessential example of Karagashli Kuba artistry, among the most striking and iconic in the Caucasian pantheon of imagery. It offers maximum graphic impact through the confident placement of the blossom-bearing rectangle motifs and super-stylized "split palmettes" that are simultaneously zoomorphic in nature. The spacious, ocean blue reserve houses levitating mythological guardians arrayed in regal repose. The clarity of every chiseled design is astonishing, as is their almost mathematical placement by a master composer. Understated abrash color striation is explored through finely measured texturing, adding an aliveness that does not distract from the artist's aesthetic goal. An exceptional Dragon border augments the enigmatic atmosphere. This particularly desirable tribal art piece is in quite good moderate pile condition at over 1-½ centuries old.
